Volunteer with HenPower
This December support Equal Arts and help make a difference to people’s lives.
We’ve joined Good Morning Britain’s award-winning 1 Million Minutes campaign supporting people at risk of loneliness. Pledge 30, 60 or 120 minutes to HenPower here.
Pat Cain, a member of our HenPower Project, cared for her husband of 48 years until his death in 2013. She said: “I was determined to look after him but I was in my 70s and I knew I just couldn't do it. Joining HenPower was strange at first, having to make myself do it because I needed to after Les died. When I first went to the lounge a man asked if I was new, I’d lived there three years. As a carer you can sometimes feel a bit invisible. You just blend in.
“What I love about the hens and the project is that we go into schools and explain to children all about the chickens and it’s a lovely to see how interested they are, they lean in and ask you all sorts of questions and we talk.”
Throughout December you can pledge support to our HenPower Project by giving 30, 60 or 120 minutes of your time.
Join the Hensioners for a HenPower Creative Session, become a HenPal or give us some hands on help with gardening and hen-keeping.
With daily sessions taking place in 40 HenPower venues we have a range of volunteering opportunities available to people across the UK.
Areas include Brighton, Bristol, Lancashire, Leeds, Newcastle, Southend and West London.
Or perhaps you’d like to spend 30 minutes writing to one of the hensioners about their interests and the creative sessions they’ve been taking part in.
Run by professional artists the sessions include visual arts, pottery, gardening, movement, music, storytelling and singing.
