How HenPower Helps
Did you spot the hensioners on your screens over Christmas and New Year?
The team based at Wood Green in Gateshead have been sharing how our HenPower project has benefited them since its pilot in 2012.
They are fantastic advocates of how being active, creative and engaged in your community as you age can boost your wellbeing.
The group featured on ITV’s Tonight programme Lonely this Christmas and on the first Songs of Praise of 2016.
Pam Snowball spoke openly to Aled Jones for Songs of Praise on January 3 about how the project has greatly improved her life.
She said: “Before I didn’t have a life where I would talk to people. I used to blush if I went into a crowded room. Now I’m on my second life. I have a different kind of life and they have made it.
“Without the hens I’d be a grumpy old woman, I would be miserable and now I’m not. I’m a really happy go lucky person.”
