Hen partnership leads to new products in our first online store
Weve launched our first online shop with the help of some feathered friends.
Our award-winning HenPower project has teamed up with author Andrew Hinkinson.
His book Chickens As Pets is among the first items to be sold via our online store. Exclusive signed copies of his book, aimed at those wanting to familiarise themselves with all things fowl, will see £3 from each sale going to HenPower, helping to fund creative projects with older people.
Launched in 2012 the project, now in 11 North East care homes with 300 people taking part, brings together older people and hen-keeping to combat loneliness and depression and improve wellbeing.
Andrew, whose book is published by Spellbinding Media, said: “We are delighted to be able to support HenPower, informing people of the benefits of keeping chickens and raising awareness of the project among Chickens As Pets’ many readers. “My father has vascular dementia and I’ve seen how much he enjoys interacting with my hens and the positive impact they can have.”
For sale alongside Chickens As Pets are handmade products designed by older people involved in HenPower.
