This Spring we’ve teamed up with Seven Stories, the National Children’s Centre for Books, to encourage children and people living in care to connect through creativity.
We’ve delved into the archives at Seven Stories to bring Philippa Pearce’s tale of a Little White Hen, who lays all in the wrong places, and Gillian McClure’s illustrations to a new audience.
With the book as inspiration, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children from Ryton Federation are taking part in weekly online creative workshops with artists and older people exploring the themes in the story with drama, ceramics and visual arts sessions.
Our HenPower Project Lead Jos met some feathered friends at Ouseburn Farm for a retelling of the tale that the children will use in class and creative sessions.
